Thane Rock Dump Silver Die Trial / ICG MS65 R7 Alaska Miner

This is a silver die trial made before the striking of the gold version. Only eight were struck of the gold and fewer than 12 of the native Alaska silver. ICG certified and graded MS65. Total Pop certified is four specimens. We will not be able to obtain any more of these. Privately struck for the gold miner of this area about 20 years ago in Fairbanks, Alaska. R6 Alaska Silver Die Trial Strike – Mastodon Creek / ICG MS67 / POP 21

ND Mastodon Creek silver die trial specimen for the 1 DWT Gold version. There are three different die varieties for this one, which is unusual. This is Die Trial #1. ICG-certified and graded MS67. Privately struck in Fairbanks, Alaska, by Dick Hanscom. The number of pieces struck is 21, making it an R6 Rarity. Dick strikes a limited number as die-trial pieces in silver before he mints the gold version. Dick hand strikes between 10-25 of the silver die trial pieces using a vintage screw press before striking the raw gold he obtains from each mining district. Over the past several years, Dick has curtailed releasing these die trial pieces to near zero to the public. We were fortunate to buy most of the limited inventory of these from Dick about 15 years ago. We worked with ICG to get them to certify these.

ERROR! 1880 $3/4 (1/4 Over 1/2) California Fractional Gold / MS65 NGC / RARE

Just back from NGC is this very rare denomination error, California Gold. 1/4 struck over 1/2 = $3/4. We have handled a small number over our 50 years of specializing in fractional gold, and we always find them interesting. This is part of the group that we discovered in the back of one of our vaults recently and sent into NGC for certification. We are listing them now.
